“ I honestly thought this was for someone else, not me ”

- Wish Kid, Alex

If you could have one wish in the world…just one…what would you wish for?

When Alex was asked this question, he answered as if he had known the answer all along.

The 13-year-old, who has cancer, didn’t want an exotic vacation, a shopping spree or to meet his favorite celebrity. Instead, Alex, an avid outdoorsman, wished to have a trailer so he and his family could go on fishing trips for years to come.

Make-A-Wish® Alabama in association with Clark’s RV Center in Millbrook granted Alex’s wish Friday, June 19 at the Bass Pro Shop in Prattville, Alabama.

The wish reveal celebration was a surprise to Alex, who thought he was stopping by his favorite outdoors store for some shopping. Once in the store, a Bass Pro customer service rep came over the intercom announcing, "would the owner of a white Ford Explorer and license plate 4Alex please come to customer service." That's when Ashley Miller who works for Make-A-Wish Alabama dramatically apologized to Alex's family for hitting their car in the parking lot. But it was all a ruse to lure 13-year-old Alex outside and surprise him with a brand new travel trailer.

"I honestly thought this was for someone else, not me," Alex beamed.

“Since recently taking up fly fishing, Alex wanted his wish to allow him to spend time outdoors,” said Pam Jones, President & CEO. “We are so excited to grant this wish to Alex and are grateful to our community partners who helped make this wish possible.”
