Terri Floyd has been a volunteer with Make-A-Wish since 2007. Since 2012, Terri has been volunteering with Make-A-Wish Alabama and has helped to grant the wishes of dozens of children.
Volunteer Wish Granters come alongside Wish families as the Wish Kid determines his or her wish. These volunteers bring treats, food and fun wish enhancements to these kids during their waiting period to help build anticipation.
Terri is no stranger to the ins and outs of wish granting. With more than ten years of volunteering under her belt, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her time with our Wish Kids. Terri makes sure to get to know the families as if they were her own, and she keeps the memories close with custom scrapbook pages that she makes for each Wish Kid.
“When I knew I was going to be involved with Make-A-Wish, I wanted to always remember my awesome Wish Kids and their families,” said Terri. “Making a scrapbook is my way of remembering these experiences. I now have three full scrapbooks and each includes a page or two about each of the Wish Kids I’ve been able to know.”
Terri, and volunteers like her, are passionate about the Make-A-Wish mission, and she keeps volunteering because she knows the impact she is making.
“Make-A-Wish focuses on the child and their wishes, their dreams,” she said. “I have had so many parents tell me that the wish changes the child’s attitude, leading up to, during and after the wish. I also love that Make-A-Wish includes the whole family in the wish experience.”
