Make-A-Wish® Alabama Board of Directors Announces New Membe
Birmingham, Al. (Nov. 12, 2014) – The Make-A-Wish Alabama Board of Directors has appointed Kevin Almond to serve as its newest member.
“It’s an opportunity to be a part of an incredible organization that provides a lot of unique and incredible opportunities for children,” Almond said.
Now in his 25th year as part of the University of Alabama’s Athletics Department, Almond serves as the Crimson Tide’s Senior Associate Director for Support Services. In addition to his administrative duties, Almond provides sports oversight for Alabama’s men’s and women’s golf teams, men’s and women’s tennis and soccer teams, as well as sports medicine, strength and conditioning and equipment.
Since Almond’s arrival on campus in 1990, Alabama student-athletes have earned an astounding 44 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships and earned 101 Academic All-America honors, along with countless other academic honors. For Almond, joining the Make-A-Wish Alabama team will allow him to continue his desire to make a difference in the lives of Alabama families.
“It’s a chance of a lifetime to serve my community and my state, while partnering with an organization that provides unique services for children and their families,” Almond said.
“Kevin will be a tremendous asset to our board and the hundreds of local families that we serve at Make-A-Wish Alabama,” Board of Directors Chairman, Scott McArdle, said. “Kevin’s expertise, knowledge and compassion will allow our chapter to continue to grow while we continue to keep our main focus on granting the true, heartfelt wishes of Alabama’s children with life-threatening illnesses.”
