Birmingham, AL. (July 18, 2016) – Make-A-Wish® Alabama is seeking Wish Granting volunteers in the Montgomery area. The chapter will host a Wish Granter training on Saturday, August 20 at the AARP office located at 201 Monroe Street, Suite 1880 in Montgomery from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wish Granters work directly with children to discover their one true heartfelt wish and then help grant those wishes. In return for their diligent efforts and dedication, volunteers receive valuable training, hands-on experience and the gratification of making a difference in the life of a child. There are currently 47 children in the Montgomery region waiting on a wish. This region includes Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Lee, Russell, Barbour, Pike, Crenshaw, Butler, Wilcox, Dallas, Autauga, Elmore, Macon, Lowndes Bullock, and Montgomery counties.
Since the Alabama chapter was founded in September of 2012, there have been 52 wishes granted in the Montgomery region. “With more volunteers, we will be able to grant more wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions in these counties” said Sarah Hall, the volunteer manager for Make-A-Wish Alabama.
Wish Granters must be 21 years of age, commit to fulfilling two to three wishes per year and attend the wish granter training.
To attend wish granter training on Saturday, August 20, please RSVP to Sarah Hall at email@example.com.
