Most girls love to shop and six-year-old Savanna is certainly no exception. When the time came to announce her wish, she didn’t hesitate with her choice: “I want all the toys in the world!”
Although Savanna’s wish was to have a shopping spree, her Wish Day was sprinkled with a few exciting extras that made her day even more special. Her adventure began when a shiny limousine pulled up in front of her home in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. Savanna climbed in and sat in wide-eyed amazement; she was on her way to Toys “R” Us® in some serious style!
When Savanna arrived at the toy store she couldn’t believe what she saw; Geoffrey the Giraffe was standing there, waiting to personally greet her! He welcomed her with open arms and presented her with a shopping cart that had been specially decorated just for her. By the end of her spree, Savanna’s cart was overflowing with toys that would make any little girl dance with excitement. Her top picks included a Hello Kitty® LCD TV, a cool drum set and piano, a new gourmet kitchen and a trunk full of dress-up clothes. Thanks to a lot of special people, Savanna’s day at Toys “R” Us will always be remembered!
Lunchtime was another great Wish Day experience for Savanna. Her favorite restaurant, LongHorn® Steakhouse, rolled out the red carpet for her grand entrance and seated her at a princess-themed table. Savanna was truly treated like royalty; thank you, LongHorn Steakhouse!
Savanna didn’t know it at the time, but after her meal she was in for one last treat. Her last destination that day was a surprise trip to Build-A-Bear Workshop®. She was so excited and chose an adorable pink kitty to stuff, bathe, clothe and name. After an exhausting day, she and her new friend snuggled the whole way home.
Looking back, Savanna’s heart was touched by so much more than simply a shopping cart full of new toys. Wish granting is such a collaborative effort and Make-A-Wish® Alabama is so very appreciative of everyone who lent a helping hand in Savanna’s big day. Savanna’s dad is especially thankful, as his baby girl was able to spend an entire day doing the things she loves most. Her Wish Day gave Savanna and her parents a much needed break from all of the worries that come with Savanna’s condition, Acute Lymphatic Lymphoma. “Thanks to everybody who donates to Make-A-Wish Alabama,” Savanna’s dad, Thomas, said. “Those donations let more and more kids, like Savanna, have their wishes granted. Today was a great day!”
