Annika wished to give assistance to abandoned and abused animals

“ Do It. It's so easy and fun. You can do it. ”

- Annika

Annika was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor, but her love for animals has not stopped her from helping homeless animals in the northwest corner of Alabama for many years! When Make-A-Wish Alabama approached Annika about receiving a wish, there was never any doubt what Annika’s wish would be – to provide assistance to abandoned and abused pets. On Saturday, August 31 in Wilson Park, Annika’s one true heartfelt wish was fulfilled at the PAWS in the Park event. On behalf of Annika, a Make-A-Wish Alabama volunteer presented $7,000.00 to Pets Are Worth Saving - P.A.W.S. “Annika has wanted this before she got sick. She’s most interested in volunteering at the adoption events and wants every animal to go to a good home,” said Anne Glover, mother of Annika. More exciting, P.A.W.S has let Annika play an active role in helping dogs and cats get adopted by welcoming her as their newest volunteer. Her wish means hundreds of dogs and cats will be spayed and neutered, foster homes will have food and veterinary care for animals while they wait for a loving home. Additionally, P.A.W.S Trap/Neuter/ Release Program will continue to prevent feral animals from reproducing in Lauderdale/Colbert/Franklin Counties

  • On Wednesday, we were honored to be the beneficiary of one of the ADESA auctions. Wish Kid Colton and his mom, Jennifer, were able to talk about Colton's medical journey and his wish! We are incredibly grateful for the support of ADESA Birmingham. Their generosity towards our mission and love for our wish kids is shown in so many ways. THANK YOU for continuously supporting Make-A-Wish Alabama. "I stood and watched men and women open their wallets and pocketbooks and just give... give money they have worked hard for, all for kids like Colton... Colton's wish was 2 years ago. Let me tell you that trip was for sure a once in a lifetime trip! All of our kids still talk about it! Had it not been for men and women like I met today, that trip would not have happened for us! I walked away from ADESA blessed and humbled at being able to witness the generosity of everyone there! My heart is full today!" Jennifer, wish mom. (ADESA)
